Peter is General Counsel and Vice President of Public Affairs at Washington Media Group, with more than 15 years of experience advising clients and government officials on legal and public policy issues. Peter started his career as a lawyer in litigation-based law firms in Maryland. His early career experience also included stints clerking for the Maryland State Attorney’s office and the San Francisco Public Defender’s office. He then transitioned to serving as Counsel on Capitol Hill, where he worked on the House Energy and Commerce Committee handling oversight and investigations; environment and energy; and commerce and technology issues.  His responsibilities included oversight of government agencies, departments and programs related to the jurisdiction of the Full Committee.  He participated in staffing and preparing committee materials such as memos, member questions and statements while regularly engaging with media and government affairs specialists.  He then worked in the Obama administration as Counsel in the Office of Congressional and Legislative affairs for the Department of Interior, where he managed briefings, hearing testimony and prepared witnesses for testimony. He worked closely with the Department’s Communications Office to provide rapid responses to press inquiries on important, sensitive, or evolving matters.

Most recently, Peter was able to put his experience into a passion project, starting a nonprofit called the Chesapeake Historic Workboat Foundation, where he contributed by fundraising through mail, phones, and digital media.  Peter is originally from Washington D.C. and currently resides in Bethesda, Maryland.
