Summer Johnson brings 16 years of public affairs, public relations and crisis communications experience to the Washington Media Group. Before returning to Washington, Johnson served in the role of chief of staff to the mayor of one of the fastest-growing cities in the Phoenix-metro area. In that role she was responsible for managing the mayor and council’s policy agenda, working on behalf of the mayor with elected officials of all levels, and making fast and accurate political and communications decisions for the city.
She has led advocacy and public affairs efforts on every stage and level, and has served as spokesperson for a number of high-profile elected officials, candidates and corporate clients, on Capitol Hill and at the Republican National Committee. She also holds the distinction of being one of WMG’s first employees, teaming with Chairman Greg Vistica on a number of national projects in 2008 and 2009.
Johnson began her career in local television.
